Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR AED for Healthcare Providers 

 
​Who Should Attend the American Heart Association BLS CPR Healthcare Provider Course:

Healthcare providers including physicians, nurses, paramedics, EMT's, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician assistants, residents and fellows, medical and nursing students, medical and nursing assistants, dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and all students studying in healthcare programs.

Two Options for Healthcare Provider BLS Course Completion:

Option 1: AHA BLS CPR for Healthcare Providers Instructor Led Classroom Based Course

This course is an instructor-led classroom course and teaches adult, child and infant CPR and AED use, use of barrier masks and the bag mask device, team resuscitation, and techniques to relieve choking in adults, children, and infants. This course teaches skills and allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students’ learning of skills. • Free CPR AED Adult Child and Infant Wallet Reminder Cards

• BLS Certification card valid for 2 years 

Option 2: AHA Online BLS HeartCode Course with Skills Evaluation

The American Heart Association also offers an on line, self-paced option for completing the cognitive portion and test questions for Healthcare Providers. Click on the following link: www.onlineaha.org. Under "Find A Course" click on BLS and complete the online BLS HeartCode. Upon completion of the online portion, print the course completion certificate or email it directly to Heart Start, and set up a 1 hour (approximate) appointment to complete the skills practice/evaluation.  There is a list of scheduled Skills Evaluation sessions on the BLS Course Schedule page. You may also request a time that is convenient for you. You will receive your AHA BLS certification card, valid for 2 years, immediately upon successful completion of your skills evaluation.

• Cost: HeartCode BLS Online (paid directly to the AHA):  $ 28.50

                     Skills Evaluation:  Small Group: $60.00 (See BLS Course Schedule for scheduled dates and times)
